Martin Paterson
Martin Paterson - early leader in Player of the Season table
McCann had an outstanding ninety minutes in the midfield and scored the first half goal that put the Clarets in front. Meanwhile Paterson was on hand to score the two second half goals which put the tie beyond doubt, taking his goal tally for the season to five.

Their performances were reflected in both the man of the match voting and the player ratings on the message board with both players winning one each and finishing second in the other.

Paterson won the man of the match vote, his third in five games. He polled 35.6% of the vote and that gave him a comfortable win over McCann who claimed 27.7% of the vote to finish second. Chris Eagles was a clear third with 14.7% of the vote and that was 10% more than fourth place.

In the player ratings the top two were reversed and for the first time this season some players have ended with ratings over 7, and in McCann's case over 8. He won it with a rating of 8.08 out of 10.

Second was Paterson with a rating of 7.81 and for the second successive game there were points for Graham Alexander since his switch to the defensive position in midfield. His rating of 7.38 out of 10 was the only other one over 7 and gave him third place.

It all leaves Martin Paterson as the clear leader just now towards our Player of the Season with Chris McCann now moving into second place.
