Parnaby was target

If the fans didn't then manager Steve Cotterill did. He'd been trying to sign the defender for the Clarets and believed last week that he was close to striking a deal for the 24-year-old who was out of contract at the Riverside.

We weren't the only club chasing him, there were a number of other clubs in the Championship as well as some in the Premiership, and in the end we lost out to a Premiership club when he agreed a three year deal with Birmingham at the end of last week.

Parnaby made is debut for Boro in a League Cup tie almost seven years ago but had to wait another couple of years before making his Premiership debut. He's played in just under 128 league and cup games for them and has now opted to remain in the Premiership.

Gabor Kiraly is our only signing to date, but the links to such as Parnaby and Saganowski are clearly showing the club's intent.
