Parkinson goes at Hull

So keen were Hull to get Parkinson when Legend Taylor decided to walk, that they challenged his employers Colchester United in court when they took out an injunction preventing him from leaving. Eventually, they got their man, much against Colchester's wishes, and allowed him to go on something of a spending spree, bringing in no fewer than nine new players.

It hasn't worked, they are currently next to bottom with only four league wins all season, and last Tuesday they suffered their heaviest defeat of the season, losing 5-1 at Parkinson's old club Colchester.

Chairman Adam Pearson warned there could be no repetition but on Saturday they conceded four more goals at home to Southampton and that meant the writing really was on the wall for the manager. The decision to relieve him of his duties was finally taken this morning with Pearson saying: β€œIt is with regret that I wish to announce the departure of Phil Parkinson, a course of action myself and Phil reluctantly confirmed this morning. Results have not gone the way either Phil or the club would wish.”

Recently appointed number two Phil Brown, complete with tan, will take over on a temporary basis with Colin Murphy as Hull City look for a successor. They have become the eighth Championship club to change manager since the start of the season, and the sixteenth to make a change since the end of last season.
