His performance at Brighton I described as incompetent but it was no worse than any of his other performances when he has taken charge of the Clarets. To put it bluntly he has suffered nightmares on every occasion.
This season he is averaging well over three yellow cards per game with 67 in 20 games although there have only been two red cards. Of those yellow cards 31 have gone to home team players and 36 to away team players.
One of the red cards came at Crewe when he sent off Wrexham’s Brian Carey as they went out of the Carling Cup and the other was Simon Bryant of Bristol Rovers who had been on the field only seven minutes in their 2-1 defeat at York.
He’s bank in card form though and in his last two games as handed out no fewer than thirteen cards.
Whatever happens though it is surely not too much to ask that he has a better game than any of his previous four Burnley games.
At Crewe he will be assisted by Ian Evans (West Midlands) and Allan Rawcliffe (Greater Manchester).
