Pardew no longer at the Valley

Their recent form has been disappointing and there has been speculation that Pardew might be on his way for some weeks and today saw them take their run without a win to eight games.

He joined Charlton on Christmas Eve two years ago when they were still in the Premiership. It looked for a while that he might keep them in there but they went down whilst his old club West Ham stayed up.

Last season saw them as promotion favourites for some time but they fell away and this season's form has been such that they are in the bottom three with no real suggestion of a much needed push for the top flight before the parachute money comes to an end.

The parting of the ways is by mutual consent and Charlton become the third Championship side to make a change this season following on from QPR and Watford.
