Out of the frying pan into the fire

Incredibly they have done just that with the appointment of their former player Steve Claridge but at least there might be some good news, it could keep him off the television some of the time.

A popular player with the fans at the Den they must be asking some serious questions of the appointment given that his only experience, other than a short and less than successful spell at Portsmouth, is with Weymouth.

He lost his job there during last season and went to Brighton on a short term contract, where he played against us, before moving down the leagues with Brentford and then Wycombe where he ended the season.

His last visit to the Turf ended with Arthur Gnohere rushing over to the touchline to gesture at him, the result of him getting away with winding up Arthur and the Burnley fans all night.

It is a risky appointment without doubt, the chairman Jeff Burnige has said he was the only one offered the job, but it is known that such as George Burley pulled out last week.

Wise to Claridge – not much change there.
