Out of Pompey but not into Bolton

The chaos that is Portsmouth Football Club continues and the administrator Andrew Andronikou is looking to sell some of their current players to bring in much needed funds whilst also reducing the wage bill. David Nugent is one of those players.

He was surplus to requirements at Fratton Park last season and he spent most of it with the Clarets, and now on his return they are looking to cash in on the former Bury and Preston striker.

"We are hoping to speak to David's agent over the next two weeks to find out what his client wants to do," Andronikou said. "I am told he is trying to stay in the Premier League and Bolton are interested.

"We are looking at £2.5 million upwards, that would be a good fee. We are certainly not going to recoup what we have paid for him, while I would like to avoid paying his level of wages."

Andronikou may believe Bolton are interested, but the Horwich based club's manager has certainly said otherwise. "I haven't spoken to anyone about David," he confirmed.

"Don't get me wrong," he added. "I think he's a really good player who I worked with very closely at Turf Moor and I'm happy to get linked with good players.

"But I'm not looking to bring him to Bolton, and I certainly haven't made any offers for him, as Portsmouth seem to be suggesting."

It's all very confusing and I suppose it is all a matter of which of the two you choose to believe. Neither I hear you say.
