Our opponents - Minnesota Thunder

They were founded in 1990 and went professional four years later and it was then they joined the USL where they currently play in the twelve team top division. They were A-League Championship winners in 1999 but lost in the finals in three other years, 1998, 2000 and 2003.

Amos Magee is the current head coach of Thunder. He is the club's all time leading goal scorer having played for them for twelve seasons. He also enjoyed time in the MLS with Tampa Bay Mutiny and Chicago Fire.

Thunder have a sister team that plays under the name of Minnesota Lightning and they player in the women's USL W-League.

The men's team have been playing their home games at the James Griffin Stadium but this year returned home to their original stadium, the National Sports Center in Blaine. This is approximately 19 miles north of downtown Minneapolis. They have signed a lease to play there until 2011.
