And Britton is the half time guest today; a player who signed for Burnley at the beginning of that 1986/87 season from Blackpool and initially on loan. He'd already enjoyed an excellent career with Dundee United and Chelsea before moving to Lancashire and had played over 250 games for the Londoners.
But at Burnley he was part of the team that nearly dropped out of the league, and also part of the team that a year later proudly marched out at Wembley behind Brian Miller in the Sherpa Van Trophy Final against Wolves.
He's remained in the area and become a Burnley fan. He once joked that he never needs to buy a drink now, and that's no surprise. Where on earth would we have been but for the goals he and Grewcock scored that day over 23 years ago?
