Matt O'Neill - back from injury
Matt will play up front alongside Preston’s Fola Onibuje who is being given a third opportunity to impress as he heads out of Deepdale. There is no place for Sunderland full back Chris Scott who has returned to Wearside after playing in the last two games.

Three of the back four who played so well on Monday for the youth team will be in the side, the one missing is Gary Carter who is rumoured to have left the club following the cup defeat although this is yet to be confirmed.

Apart from O’Neill the only player in the side to have started a first team game for the Clarets is Alan Moore, a player who looks set to leave the club at the end of the season for a new career at Shelbourne in the Republic of Ireland.

Tonight’s team is:

Nathan Abbey, Danny Pitham, Ryan Townsend, Neal Trotman, Paul Scott, Marc Pugh, Darrell Avery, Joel Pilkington, Alan Moore, Fola Onibuje, Matt O’Neill. Subs: Michael Hale, Joe Booth, Tom Ince, Alex Taylor, Rhys Carpenter.

Our visitors Stoke will be captained by experienced midfielder Paul Williams and they also include Lewis Neal and Gareth Owen. They too like Burnley will also have a good number of youngsters in the team.

Stoke’s team is: Robert Duggan, Andy Wilkinson, Carl Dickinson, Jay Denny, Paul Keogh, Gareth Owen, Paul Tortoiseshell, Paul Williams, Jermaine Palmer, Martin Patterson, Lewis Neal. Subs: Eric Graves, Danny Smith, Matthew Swift, Scott Musgrove, Danny Hughes.
