O'Neill and Anderson help clubs keen clean sheets

Tom Anderson was back after injury for Lincoln

O'Neill made his ninth league appearance for a Scunthorpe team who were without a manager prior to the appointment of Mark Robins today. Struggling near the bottom of the table, he was at right-back as they travelled to Gillingham, a side just above them in the league and won 3-0, a first clean sheet for them in the nine games in which O'Neill has played.

Good defensive performances and Lincoln certainly didn't go together this season; that was until Anderson arrived on loan. They were conceding goals for fun but in his first three games they conceded just twice with the second of them coming in a 1-1 draw against Gateshead when he scored the Lincoln goal.

Manager Gary Simpson is keen to bring in another defender to play alongside Tom and his contribution can be seen very clearly in the last three games. Against Nuneaton he was forced off with an injury, it was 0-0 at the time but they lost 2-1.

That injury ruled them out of the next game against Southport when they conceded three goals. Fit again he was straight back in on Saturday when they looked far more solid at the back.

Simpson was again impressed with his young loanee and one supporter on their local newspaper web site said of him: "Young Anderson has been an absolute saviour."

O'Neill signed a three month loan deal with Scunthorpe that ends on 18th November; Anderson meanwhile will see his loan at Lincoln end this weekend although Simpson remains keen to extend it.

Jadan Hall's one month loan at Chester came to an end at the end of September. He made eight appearances for them.
