Olivier is at Vicarage Road

He is in his fifth season on the league list but has only taken charge of one Burnley game previously, our 1-0 away win at QPR two seasons ago. He had a quiet afternoon as the Clarets went on to win 1-0 with a goal from John Mullin and he showed just three yellow cards with one of them going to Micky Mellon and the other two to QPR players.

This season he has issued 46 yellow cards in 14 games which is about average but there has been just a single red card. Of those 46 yellows 17 have been given to home team players and 29 to away team players.

The one red card was given to Bournemouth’s Wade Elliott in a 2-1 home 3rd Division defeat against Bury. He doesn’t have a record for red cards either and there were just two in the whole of last season although in previous seasons he had averaged seven in each.

I think we can expect a referee who will allow the players to play and one who is not over active with the cards, that’s all we can ask.
