Off to Chesterfield

Wayne Allison - used as a sub on Saturday and now lines up against our reserve team
The Blades play their reserve games at Chesterfield’s Recreation Ground and that at least means the Clarets won’t have to make three visits to Bramall Lane in ten days with the first team having been there last Saturday and the youth team there next Monday in the FA Youth Cup.

The game kicks off at 2 o’clock this afternoon and as yet there is no news of our team although it is hardly likely there will be any experience in there with Matt O’Neill and Joel Pilkington, the unused subs from Saturday, the only full time professionals likely to play. That is unless Stan decides to give Mark McGregor another ninety minutes.

Not so Sheffield United who will field some very familiar names including two players who came on as substitutes on Saturday, namely former Tranmere players Wayne Allison and Andy Parkinson.

They will be joined by players such as Mike Whitlow and Mark Rankine, summer signings from Bolton and Preston respectively, Robert Page on his way back from injury and new signing Dries Boussatta.

They will certainly give our youngsters a very difficult task after the better news last week when we picked up our first point of the season.

Sheffield United will select from:

Lindley, Mulligan, Roma, Ross, Whitlow, Page, Boussatta, Rankine, Allison, Parkinson, Wood, Robertson, Harper, Sharp, Horwood, Marrison.
