There have been changes at West Brom whilst James has been at Burnley, Gary Megson had just left and he has now been replaced by Bryan Robson and the new man has been told to cut his playing staff.

At the time of his signing it was suggested that the loan could be extended to the maximum three months and that is what the player is hoping for.

He said today, “I’m hoping it goes into another month at least. I think it will happen, I know Albion’s new assistant manager Nigel Pearson from our days at Stoke so I don’t think it will be a problem.

“I definitely think I’ll be here for a couple of months anyway, I’ll be very disappointed if I’m not.”

Steve Cotterill will be keen to keep a player he said he would sign on a permanent deal if he could and with Richard Duffy having returned to managerless Portsmouth the numbers are dropping again.
