O'Connor to remain a Claret

The West Brom midfielder came in at the end of October from West Brom in an initial one month deal and made his debut at Queens Park Rangers, coming on as a substitute for Graham Branch.

He’s started all the five games since and both him and manager Steve Cotterill were keen for him to stay at the Turf for longer.

That is now the case and he will be available for us right up to and including the visit to Cardiff on 22nd January, after which he will have to return to the Hawthorns unless we wanted to and were able to sign him on a permanent basis.

It looks as though it was all sorted last week and Cotterill said, “We’ve managed to extend the deal to three months. I spoke to Bryan Robson last week and he was very obliging, so we thank him for that because we need all the help we can get.”

O’Connor himself will be pleased with the news and spoke just a few days ago of his hopes of remaining with the Clarets.
