Norwich want Taylor

Canaries boss Nigel Worthington has confirmed today that he wants Taylor and also that he has already contacted Burnley. "We can confirm that Gareth Taylor is one of a number of players we have been looking at and we have approached Burnley about the player in the proper manner."

There have been strong suggestions over the last few days from those close to Taylor that he could have played his last game for Burnley and is wanted by at least two First Division clubs and that means Norwich could have to move quickly if they do indeed want to sign the Burnley striker.

With Stan having already said that offers for players might well have to be accepted and his admission that a new team could have to be built it would be no surprise if the Clarets cashed in on the striker we signed just two years ago on a free transfer from KKMC after a loan spell in the previous season.

He has been the Clarets leading scorer in each of his two full seasons at the club although for a long spell was the target of the boo boys at Turf Moor. This has all changed in the second half of this season and his form was such that he won the bulk of the Player of the Year awards from the various Supporters’ Groups at the prize giving just two weeks ago.

With the club’s financial position such that the £100,000 received for Glen Little’s loan was more than welcome it is certain that any sort of sizeable offer for Taylor would be accepted.
