Norwich and Taylor – again

Last updated : 24 July 2003 By Tony Scholes

Back in May Norwich boss Nigel Worthington confirmed that they had contacted us about the possibility of signing Taylor but Clarets Chairman Barry Kilby was quick to brush off the Norfolk club. "I've had a call from Norwich," said Kilby. "There hasn't been an offer but we are not interested."

That seemed to be the end of the matter but Norwich have tried and failed to sign other strikers, they admitted they could not afford Rob Hulse, and are now apparently targeting both Gareth and Franchise FC’s David Connolly.

Nothing has been said by either club but following speculation in Norwich that a £400,000 offer was being made sources close to the Burnley player have suggested that he could well be set to leave.

But as far as we are concerned Gareth remains a Claret for now and he is expected to have shrugged of a slight knee injury to line up against Rotherham tomorrow.

Who knows what might happen next though in this crazy world of football and it will all depend on Stan’s plans as he looks to build a competitive side for the new season.
