Both Burnley players, goalkeeper Conor Mitchell and right back Cameron Dummigan, were again in the side but they fell behind in just the tenth minute of the game.

Charlton's Mikhail Kennedy, who came on as a substitute and scored the first goal in the Holland game, was a starter this time and he netted again just past the half hour to bring Northern Ireland level.

However, it was Norway who went in at half time in front with a 44th minute goal and there were no further goals in the second half leaving Northern Ireland on their way out of the competition.

They face Italy in the remaining game who have followed up a 1-0 win against Norway with another win by the same score this afternoon against host nation Holland.

That leaves Italy on 6 points, Norway on 3 with both Holland and Northern Ireland on one point each, and with Italy having beaten Norway it means, no matter what the results of the last games, it is Italy who will go through to the finals.

The Northern Ireland versus Italy game will be played on Tuesday evening, as will Holland's clash with Norway.
