The 20 year-old defender has been with AFC Telford right from the start, when the club was formed at the beginning of last season, and he swept the board with the end of season awards last season.

He picked up the Players’ Player of the Year, the Manager’s Player of the Year and the Supporters’ Player of the Year awards and his form has continued at the beginning of this season.

Courtney was previously with Birmingham, a product of their youth scheme, but was picked up by AFC Telford boss Bernard McNally who said, “We had a body blow losing one player in Alfie Carter and now we have been dealt another huge body blow with this although it does show that when we do start producing talented young players, someone will come in for them.

“Duane has been followed by Burnley for some time and I’ll be looking to speak to him about their interest in him later this week. If he is to go, then we will be looking for a substantial fee for him because we value him very highly.”

Suggestions are that Courtney will join the Clarets tomorrow for two days initially and the player admitted, “I came to Telford with high hopes but I never imagined a club as big as Burnley would have come in for me.”
