NO'Connor for Bournemouth

Garreth O'Connor
Having been placed on the transfer list by Steve Cotterill in May, after a season in which he didn't start a game, he returned for pre-season training but was almost immediately on the move, heading back to his former club Bournemouth with a view to a loan move.

Unfortunately he missed some of the pre-season with injury, and that forced the expected loan, originally scheduled to run until January, to be reduced to two months by Bournemouth boss Kevin Bond.

He's started all of Bournemouth's six league and cup games this season, but has been substituted in all of them. However, the substitution during Tuesday's Johnstone Paints Trophy win against Walsall was due to a thigh strain.

That injury is going to keep him out for the next few games and that has led to his future back at Bournemouth being in some doubt. Manager Kevin Bond said: "Garreth O'Connor will not be fit for the weekend and we think he'll be out for at least two or three weeks. I'll have to think about his situation with us and make a decision over the coming weeks."

The Irish midfielder's return to Bournemouth was greeted with enthusiasm by the supporters but he's not been able to show the sort of form for them as he did in the 2004/05 season, the form that persuaded Steve Cotterill to bring him to Burnley with Wade Elliott. Time could be running out for him at Dean Court.
