No return for Shandran

But one young player who won’t be getting a first team game is striker Anthony Shandran who has just completed a second month on loan at York City. In fact Shandy will now remain at Bootham Crescent for the remainder of the season after Stan Ternent and York boss Terry Dolan agreed a deal.

Shandy has made a total of twelve appearances for the Minstermen and scored two goals, one the only goal of the game in the 1-0 win at Leyton Orient. Prior to that he had only played in one first team match at Burnley and that is now over two years ago when he came on as a late sub at Crewe with Stan promising him a start before the end of the season.

That didn’t happen and after scoring a lot of goals in the reserves in 2000/01 he found himself last season playing too many games out of position and then missed much of this season after suffering a stress fracture of his shin.

He is out of contract in the summer and we believe he is being released by the club and so he will be keen to continue at York in the hope of earning himself a deal.
