No permanent move for Nugent likely

Coyle wanted Nugent for the cup tie this weekend, and still does, but the manager has revealed this morning that the best option will be to extend Nugent's deal until the end of the season with a permanent move beyond our means.

On the potential for a permanent deal, Coyle said: "Financially what the cost would be, and indeed salary wise, would not be within the realms of possibility, although I would certainly like to extend his loan.

"He wants to stay at the football club, we want to extend the loan and I think that's something we can get if Portsmouth are willing.

"I want it to be concluded because I would like him available for the cup tie this weekend. For that to happen I need permission from Portsmouth to allow him to play, given we already have Tyrone Mears and Stephen Jordan suspended and our captain Steven Caldwell out injured.

"We will get on with it, but we don't have the depth of squad other clubs have so David is one we'd like to secure to the end of the season and take it from there."

Nugent's current loan deal runs until Friday 22nd January.
