No new additions to squad

Delroy Facey - could return to the starting line up
Stan has been saying for some weeks that he needs to bring players in but again he has been unable to and the squad will be much the same as the one that could only draw with Rotherham on Saturday.

It is always something of a difficult task working out just who is and who isn’t injured at Turf Moor, we are not one of the most forthcoming of clubs with this sort of information, but there should be a chance that Delroy Facey could be fit to start having been used as a second half substitute on Saturday.

It is thought also that Luke Chadwick could be fit to return but probably only as a substitute against the club he spent time with on loan last season. With one youngster, Joel Pilkington, out of the squad on Saturday it is likely that Matt O’Neill could miss out should Chadwick make the bench and should no one else be missing. O’Neill has been a virtual regular as a substitute this season but the six minutes action he got on the opening day of the season remains his last first team appearance.

So the only question will probably surround the possible inclusion of Facey and I would think that should he not make it then the team will be as it was on Saturday. But if declared fit I expect him to come in and surely that will be in place of Ian Moore who Stan singled out regarding the goal we conceded.

That would mean Branchy playing musical positions again and this time the music could stop with him on the left hand side where he finished the game on Saturday, and it is that finishing line up that I think will start.

I expect us to line up: Brian Jensen, Dean West, David May, Arthur Gnohere, Mo Camara, Glen Little, Richard Chaplow, Tony Grant, Graham Branch, Robbie Blake, Delroy Facey. Subs: Lee Roche, Mark McGregor, Paul Weller, Luke Chadwick, Ian Moore.

Reading’s main concern is Robbie Blake and their Chief Scout Brian McDermott who was at the Rotherham game described Robbie’s performance as outstanding whilst also highlighting the quality distribution from David May at the back.

Our visitors are without a number of players through injury and it will come as good news to Burnley fans that the Berkshire club have ruled out Shaun Goater. Reading provide supporters with the best injury news of any club and they have said today that Goater has responded very well to treatment on his knees and they currently plan for him to recommence training later this week. Also out are Aide Williams, Steve Brown and Darius Henderson.

Steve Coppell is not expected to make any changes from the side that drew at West Brom on Saturday evening and if that is the case Reading will line up:

Marcus Hahnemann, Graeme Murty, Nicky Shorey, Ivar Ingimarsson, Ricky Newman, Scott Murray, Andy Hughes, Steve Sidwell, James Harper, John Salako, Nicky Forster. Subs not used: Kevin Watson, Jon Macken, Nathan Tyson, Bas Savage, Jamie Young.
