No Lafferty talks planned

That speculation seems to have all come from the comments of Gordon 'Stretch' Armstrong the former Claret who is acting as Lafferty's agent in this long running saga that has now reached day 19 following the player's attack on manager Owen Coyle in the Belfast press.

Armstrong said on Friday: "The clubs need to sit down and discuss it and that isn't a likely situation until next week at the earliest. Owen is on holiday at the minute and he will want to be involved in any talks.

Celtic and Wolves have made firm offers but there are still discussions to take place and I don't expect anything to be resolved in the next few days. Rangers made an early offer for Kyle but have not come back."

The media seem to have got the idea that with Coyle ready to return from holiday in Turkey he will sit down with these clubs, but the Clarets boss has put things right this morning. "Nothing offered has been accepted and that's where we stand at the moment," said Coyle. "There is nothing to be discussed unless someone comes back with an improved offer."

It is believed that the offer made by Wolves included Stephen Elliott and Darren Potter but there is no evidence to suggest that the Clarets are interested in either of these two players. Celtic on the other hand have included Derek Riordan in their offer and he is a player that Burnley would like to sign.

But for now, nothing has changed, and until someone comes up with a bigger and acceptable offer then nothing will change and Lafferty will still be a Burnley player.
