No go for trialists

Jonay Hernandez Santos - has now left Turf Moor
Venezuelan left back Jonay Hernandez Santos and Roberto Merino Ramirez, a Peruvian midfielder, arrived last Thursday as Steve Cotterill continues to cover all angles in his attempts to strengthen the squad.

However, Steve has decided to take things no further and the pair have now both left the club and returned to their Spanish clubs.

The manager said, “We thought if we were bringing players in to supplement the squad, they have to be as good as or better than what we have already got and I didn’t think they were capable of doing that. We will carry on and look elsewhere.”

That still leaves Jamaican Luton Shelton with us, and he is expected to play in the reserves next week, and also we have the battle tomorrow with the appeal against the refusal to issue a work permit for Macedonian midfielder Artim Sakiri.

The two further trialists, expected at the beginning of this week, are now due to arrive next week.
