No game for youth team yet again

We were scheduled to play second place Tranmere Rovers but the game was called off 24 hours before kick off time with the ground once again waterlogged.

The first home game called off was against Stockport on 26th October and just a week later the Wigan game fell victim.

Two weeks ago we were able to play against Rochdale although the game was moved to another pitch but just four days later the Stockport game, having been quickly re-arranged, was called off again.

This time it is Tranmere and already the youth team look as though it might be a repeat of last season when one home game wasn't played at all whilst others were switched to the opposition's training ground.

Director Clive Holt admitted just before the end of last season that the drainage was totally inadequate at Gawthorpe but said work would be carried out during the summer. That unfortunately had to be stopped with the loss of the television money and once again it will mean further struggle for the youngsters.

The Wigan game along with the one away game postponed (at Carlisle) have now been arranged whilst the next game for them is an away game at Stockport next Saturday.
