No extension for Todd

Todd joined the Clarets at the beginning of September on a month’s loan and made his debut in the 2-1 win at Stoke. Last night was his seventh game in a Burnley shirt and although his signing was announced on the Thursday it looks as if it wasn’t completed until the Friday and that will allow him to play against Walsall this weekend.

But there is something of a shortage of defenders down the M65 at the moment. Craig Short is still out with a knee injury and Markus Babbel was added to the injury list last weekend.

To add to that Lucas Neill is serving a suspension following his challenge, for want of a better word, on Jamie Carragher in their recent home defeat against Liverpool.

We had hoped to extend the deal, Todd has probably been the biggest success of the three recent loan signings, but Souness has had to say no to that and Todd will return to Ewood Park next week.

There has been no comment from Burnley as yet although Stan did admit that it might be difficult to keep him for a further month. Our local rivals have though confirmed the bad news.
