Martin Paterson
Martin Paterson - unused sub in Slovenia
Graham Alexander's Scotland were the first to play but he was named as a sub for their home game against Norway, a game that ended 0-0 at Hampden Park with the Scots having the easiest of chances that was fluffed by Chris Iwelumo who came off the bench for his international debut.

Next was Bes Berisha and Albania. They were beaten 2-0 in the Ferenc Puskas Stadium in Budapest. For the third successive game Bes was named as a substitute but on this occasion wasn't called upon.

Finally Martin Paterson was left our of Nigel Worthington's Northern Ireland side against Slovenia in Maribor, but despite their strike partnership of David Healy and Kyle Lafferty failing to deliver a goal they stayed on for the entire game with Paterson not able to pick up his sixth cap. It all ended in disaster for the Irish with the Slovenians scoring twice in the last six minutes to win the game 2-0.

For two of them there's another chance to win a cap on Wednesday. Northern Ireland play San Marino in Belfast whilst Albania travel to Braga where they play Portugal.
