No cap for Taylor

Gareth has won eleven caps for Wales, eight of them as a substitute, and is still awaiting his first goal at international level.

The last three of those caps have been won since he joined the Clarets – see INTERNATIONAL APPEARANCES - all coming in drawn games over just about the last twelve months.

He was named as a substitute yesterday with Craig Bellamy and John Hartson starting up front. Nathan Blake and Robert Earnshaw were also on the bench but neither of them came on as the Welsh cruised to victory.

Gareth and the Welsh should now have been off on their travels with a game scheduled for this Wednesday in Belgrade against Serbia & Montenegro in another European qualifier. However this game has been postponed for security reasons due to the current political situation in the country where a state of emergency is in force.

As always UEFA couldn’t make their minds up and after confirming that the match would go ahead as recently as last Monday then changed their minds by Thursday. It will now be played on Wednesday 20th August.
