Nik the Greek wins another cap

Last updated : 15 May 2002 By Tony Scholes

The Greeks started the game, as they did in the weekend game against Romania, with Nikopolidis in goal. They were soon a goal behind too against the might of Cyprus but two goals from Fyssas in the space of five minutes around the half hour mark gave them a 2-1 half time lead.

For the second half the Greek manager made eight substitutions, we believe he is called Stanis Ternentopoulos, with Michopoulos coming on and keeping a clean sheet. A third goal from Amantidis ten minutes from the end completed the scoring.

Michopoulos has been out of the Greek national side for some time but returned to the squad this week for the first time since joining the Clarets. Nik is now included in our list of Burnley Internationals alongside some of the greats of the past.
