News from Mossley and Accrington

The Mossley game went ahead as scheduled last night and as we reported last night the game ended in a 0-0 draw on a warm evening in Thameside. You can click below to read our full match report.

That was a reserve team game, arranged just last week because the scheduled game at Ramsbottom was called off. Tonight it was the turn of the youth team (although it was expected that most of last night’s players would be involved).

There were certainly not quite as many Burnley supporters at the Crown Ground as there were last week but still a good number turned up to watch some of the young talent currently at Turf Moor.

Sadly all of them, including a fan who had travelled over 40 miles for the game, were badly let down. There was no game although some locals did suggest that perhaps we were playing at Ramsbottom. That brought about a chase from Accy to Rammy with some not even initially knowing the way, but that proved to be a wasted journey.

It can only be assumed that this game was at one time scheduled, it did appear as a fixture on the supposed first and fastest with the news web site. Clarets Mad were as much in the dark and also reached the Crown Ground and then followed on to Acre Bottom.

If the game wasn’t going ahead then why on earth didn’t the club tell us? Surely they don’t want the fans chasing around the area trying to get to a game that is not even being played. Certainly the fingers of blame from those fans there tonight were pointing at Burnley Football Club.

We are only sorry that here at Clarets Mad we couldn’t prevent you from travelling, we were there too believing there to be a game.

So I can only assume that we lost 1-0 with the winner being one big own goal from Burnley Football Club.
