The 20 year-old midfielder is still to make a debut for the first team at St. James Park but has been a regular in midfield where he played a total of 26 Premiership reserve games last season scoring a total of four goals including one against Manchester United.

Orr is Liverpool born but has come through the Newcastle Academy where he has impressed. Although out of contract at the end of this season it is not thought that Newcastle would be keen to let him go on a permanent basis and they are expected to offer him a new deal.

Right now though the likes of Jermaine Jenas, Lee Bowyer, Gary Speed, Kieron Dyer and Darren Ambrose are blocking his way through to the first team and Sir Bobby Robson will be keen to see him get experience whilst out on loan.

He is certainly in form and had a good game for Newcastle in their FA Premiership Reserves game against Everton last night. A very inexperienced Newcastle side won 4-2 against an Everton side that included Weir, HIbbert, Alexandersson, Li Tie and a youngster called Rooney who scored both Everton goals. The Newcastle goals were scored by Zola-Makongo(2), Chopra and Cave.

Suggestions in the north east are that the player could make the move within the next week.
