New ref for Clarets

Tanner is now in his second season on the Football League list and has twice previously refereed games at this level but they were both last season, one in January and one in February.

One of those games involved Coventry when they won 3-0 at Franchise in a game that saw Dean Lewington sent off in what must have been one of the easiest ever red cards to hand out.

Tanner has no qualms about giving red cards, last season he sent off 10 players in 28 games although this season he hasn’t been quite as keen with just 5 in 22 games with 58 yellow cards to add to that.

He has been described by a number of managers as a complete homer and his yellow cards over the past two seasons seem to confirm this. Only 15 of those he has handed out this season have gone to home team players whilst the other 43 have gone to away players.

Tomorrow his assistants will be Richard Beevor (Norfolk) and Brendan Malone (Wiltshire).
