New man set to come on board

Yesterday Burnley Football Club revealed that local business man, and more importantly Burnley fan, Ray Griffiths had bought shares in the club amounting to a six figure sum.

The rumours had been flying round of a takeover but this was never the case as Ray was set to make an investment to join the current team. It is believed that he has sold his stake in Target Express recently and like most of us would do given the opportunity is helping the club he supports.

Chairman Barry Kilby said yesterday “Ray Griffiths has bought a lot of shares in the club and has shown the extent of his commitment.

"It was passed at the last Board meeting and we're pleased to have his support.

"He can't join the Board at the moment, because we have a full quota of nine members, but he will eventually join the Board in time."

It is believed that the longest serving of the current nine Directors, Bob Blakeborough, could be set to stand down which would create that vacancy to allow the new man on board.

Ray was delighted to have bought the shares in Burnley Football Club and said, "I am very proud and honoured to have a chance to become a Director of the Football Club I have supported all my life.

"I am looking forward to serving on the Board and help in any way I can that will bring success to Burnley FC."
