Brassy has been with the Gigg Lane club since 2006. He joined as a player and when he wasn't offered a new deal in the summer of 2007 he moved to Hyde United as a player but remained with Bury as Centre of Excellence Manager.

He stood in as caretaker manager when Chris Casper and Keith Alexander were dismissed and helped new boss Alan Knill for a couple of months before returning to the Centre of Excellence.

This week though he's become the club's assistant manager and said on his appointment that he'd had opportunities with other clubs but wanted to stay at Bury because he said the club, like Burnley, was one that gets under your skin.

Brassy, now 33, played 160 games for the Clarets between 1995 and 2000, his last appearance coming as a substitute in the home game against Preston during the promotion season.
