New deal for Stan

Clarets Mad believe that the club have offered a new deal to manager Stan Ternent whose current contract comes to an end at the end of this season although there is no confirmation as yet as to whether Stan has agreed to it.

When he first joined the Clarets in the summer of 1998 it was on a three year deal and at the time he suggested that this would be his last job and the three year deal would take him to his preferred retirement age of 55.

After looking as though he could lose the job within the first year he then took the Clarets to promotion in the second and following that, just before Christmas 2000, he was offered a new back dated three year deal which takes him to the end of this season.

It looks now as though Barry Kilby and the board are set to offer Stan a third Turf Moor contract to extend his stay beyond five years although as yet we don’t know the length of the contract.

So the Burnley board have put their faith in Stan to continue beyond this season and even before then he will become the longest serving manager at the club since Jimmy Adamson who was in charge for just under six years.
