It's very much a case of two must win games for them to remain favourites for a place on those finals. The first of the two games will be played at Hampden this coming Saturday against Ukraine and then they travel to Tbilisi for the away game against Georgia on the following Wednesday, a game which will be played in the Boris Paichadze Stadium.
For Gudjonsson it will be an opportunity to get some football. He's not started a first team game for Burnley since the 3-0 Carling Cup win against Oldham and his last league start was the 2-0 defeat at Scunthorpe on the second Saturday of the season.
Iceland, like Scotland, have a home game followed by an away game. They play Latvia in Rekjavik on Saturday before travelling to Liechtenstein next Wednesday.
Northern Ireland have just the one game, a week on Wednesday in Sweden. They will be without Michael Duff. Nigel Worthington hasn't as yet named the squad but Steve Jones and Kyle Lafferty are both expected to be named.
