More bad news for Franchise FC

This week the London Clarets revealed that they have followed the decision made last month by CISA to support the Wimbledon supporters.

At their recent AGM the London Clarets passed the following motion put forward by the Wimbledon Independent Supporters Association:

"This Association condemns the decision of the Football Association Commission to support the effective destruction of Wimbledon Football Club by allowing the move to Milton Keynes.

This Association resolves to:

Support a boycott of all away games involving the current Wimbledon FC Ltd whether these be at Milton Keynes or Selhurst Park or any other venue until such time as the plans are withdrawn.

To publicise the reasons for the boycott amongst all fans of the Club via fanzines and other publications.

To take action at home games against Wimbledon FC to demonstrate our opposition to football franchising.

To call upon the Football Association and the Football League to fight this decision in any way possible.

To call upon the owners of their Club to support an EGM to oppose the move and to consider options for continuing to fight it.

To offer support to Wimbledon fans in their continued attempts to oppose the move.

To notify and call upon other supporters' groups to support this campaign.

To send a letter of support to WISA for their campaign.

To issue a press release confirming this organisation's opposition to football franchising and support for WISA’s campaign."

Well done to London Clarets but there is also news of action being taken by Swindon fans, their club has become the first Football League club to play against Franchise since the FA Commission decided to allow the move to Milton Keynes.

The pre-season friendly between the two clubs takes place at Swindon tomorrow and the Swindon Town Supporters’ Trust have issued the following press release:

TrustSTFC, the Swindon Town Supporters' Trust have urged all football fans in Swindon to attend Saturday's friendly match against Wimbledon FC and protest at the club's proposed move to Milton Keynes. The move, in the face of bitter opposition from fans and the local council and community, was sanctioned by a three-man FA Commission in May in direct contravention not only of common sense and the fans' wishes, but also of FA and League rules. "As football fans, we are horrified by this ruling which effectively tear a long-established and respected club away from it's roots, fans and community and opens the way for the 'franchising' of football clubs across the country. This is a horrific move, which makes Wimbledon FC the pariahs of the football league.

'This friendly match is the first match against league opposition that Milton Keynes Wimbledon will have played since the FA Commission's ruling and we would urge all football fans in Wiltshire (whether they usually follow Swindon or not) to join us in expressing their disgust in they way in which Mr Koppel and the Milton Keynes Wimbledon owners are prepared to discard their own supporters".

So well done to TrustSTFC with the hope that football supporters in the area will turn out and show those behind this disgraceful decision what real football supporters think about it.
