Moore will sign for Shelbourne

Moore’s contract at Burnley came to an end after three mainly disappointing years and in fact he left before the end of the season and was back in Ireland having been selected for the last reserve game of the season.

He signed for the Clarets after a trial in pre-season 2001 and after an initial three month deal he signed a three year contract. He turned in some superb performances as we stormed to the top of the league.

But he was forced out of a game at Norwich just before half time, the first of a series of injuries that never allowed him to have a consistent run in the side. The outstanding performances of the first few months were only occasional and more often than not away from home.

At the Turf he was put under severe pressure from the crowd and didn’t appear to have the mental strength to cope with it and the crowd were never able to see the sort of performances he put in on our travels.

Overall though Alan Moore didn’t wasn’t available enough, and didn’t do enough during his time at Turf Moor and now he has gone home to Ireland and signed for the top club in the country Shelbourne.

Although they are not in their close season Moore will not be able to formally sign and play for them until next month when the transfer window opens.
