Moore has gone

Alan Knill - in charge until the end of the season
We revealed on Thursday that the Millers were set to part company with their long serving manager although there were suggestions later that he would stay until the end of the season.

That hasn’t happened and Moore left the club yesterday by mutual consent, in other words he agreed when he was told to go, after over seven and a half years in the job. His position was always less than secure once the fans’ group took over the running of the club and they have decided to look elsewhere to help build the club that is currently bottom of the Championship.

It is almost certain that they have accepted the inevitability of relegation and as such have taking the step to appoint youth coach Alan Knill as caretaker boss until the end of the season with former striker Mark Robins coming in as his assistant.

Much will depend on the remaining three months or so as to whether they will be considered for the job on a regular basis but for Moore it is now an uncertain time for him. Often linked with other jobs, last summer almost became farcical, he always had the security of the Rotherham job.

Now he will certainly have something of a wait before he gets the chance of another job but it is hardly likely to be an Ipswich or a Burnley.
