Sylvain Meslien
Last summer saw the arrival of Arthur Gnohere from Caen and at the beginning of this year Senegal defender Alcaly Camara from Nice had a trial. Now it is the turn of St. Etienne defender Sylvain Meslien.

Meslien is a left-back but can also play as a central defender in a back three. According to his club he is just 20 years old although other sources suggest he is a year older, whichever his birthday is definitely 7th August. He has struggled to win a place in the St. Etienne side even though the last season was spent in the 2nd Division following relegation in 2001. He is believed to be training with the Clarets for a week in the hope of winning himself a deal.

There is a possibility of him joining a club on a season’s loan with St. Etienne having high hopes for him and not wanting to see him leave on a permanent basis. He has already discussed this sort of move with Belgian club R.A.A. Louviéroise.

Meslien will now join Broomes and Dalglish along with the rest of the squad.
