Miller again

Last updated : 29 October 2004 By Tony Scholes

He was in charge of our Carling Cup 1st round tie at Gigg Lane back in August when we went through 3-2 after twice being behind. It was a quiet game for the referee although he could easily have sent Flitcroft off for the foul on Chaplow and he did miss a blatant early penalty that could have given us an easier evening.

Miller referees more often at a lower level, this will be just his fourth match in this division with his first being a nightmare performance at the Burnley v West Brom game last season.

He has handed out a total of 31 yellow cards this season in 11 matches and just the one red card to go with that, Sheffield Wednesday’s Guy Branston in a 4-2 defeat at Tranmere.

His home/away count is a rare one indeed with 16 of the yellow cards going to home players and 15 to away players. He has had a switch this season and 10 of the last 13 yellow cards he has handed out have gone to home players, one of the three away players being Paul Cook in Accrington’s win at Bradford City in the LDV Vans Trophy.

Tomorrow he will be assisted by Gary Ives and Nick Kinseley (both from Essex).
