Midfielder Hughes in Turf Moor link

He has just a year left on his contract at Reading and there have been no talks as yet regarding extending it. This has apparently alerted the three clubs although as yet there haven’t been any offers for him.

The Stockport born player started his career with Oldham, making his debut for the Latics under Graeme Sharp’s management but he moved on to Notts County early in 1998 after initially joining on loan.

He was at Meadow Lane for over three years before signing for Reading and has since been a regular in both Alan Pardew’s and Steve Coppell’s teams.

Neil Warnock was the manager who let him leave Oldham over seven years ago when he was just 20 and he’s now one of the three managers who is reportedly keen to sign him. He could well be interesting Burnley but to date there has been no suggestion from either club that he might be Turf Moor bound.
