Midfield target moves elsewhere

Mark Rivers - signing for his old club Crewe
He was a target that the Burnley boss was hoping to keep under wraps but the news got out and it all came to a standstill even when the player terminated his contract with Norwich and went off on trial to Ipswich.

He’s been training with Ipswich for two weeks and went on their pre-season tour of Denmark but left in their return when Long Ball Joe decided against offering him a contract.

From there he moved to Crewe and he played for an hour of their game against Premiership crisis club Everton after which he was immediately offered a contract by his former club.

It has all been agreed and Rivers will now re-sign for his home town club ending any interest the Clarets might have had in him.

Meanwhile Georges Santos continues to train and play with Ipswich whilst his agent holds talks with clubs. Stoke are apparently also interested but QPR appear to be favourites because, according to the player, they are closest to Ipswich.

Ipswich are the only club to speak about this, they certainly don’t bother keeping these things confidential, and so it is difficult to work out exactly what is happening.
