Michopoulos in action in our last game against Coventry
On Sunday goalkeeper Nik Michopoulos picked up his fourteenth cap for Greece, and his first since joining the Clarets, when he came on as a second half substitute against Romania in Alexandroupoli.

He has been out of the reckoning for some time and his international career did look doomed when he was overlooked for his country's World Cup qualifier against England at Old Trafford last autumn. He was selected though for the squad for two friendlies against Romania and Cyprus and having played 45 minutes in the first one is hoping to start the game against Cyprus.

Nik has become the first Burnley goalkeeper to play for his country at full international level since Adam Blacklaw represented Scotland against Italy in 1965. He also follows the likes of Jerry Dawson and Colin McDonald who both kept goal for England with McDonald being voted the top goalkeeper in the 1958 World Cup Finals.

Nik has become Burnley's 47th full international, a list of top players that started with Jack Yates in 1889. Yates was selected to play for England against Ireland at Everton and scored a hat-trick in a 5-1 win. Incredibly he was never selected again.

We now have available on Clarets Mad a full list of all 47 of these internationals. They can be found within Internationals in the new Clarets Information section.
