Micah takes goal award

He polled over 68% of the vote to take the award with Robbie Blake’s free kick against Preston coming second with just under 20%. My particular favourite, Robbie’s against Wolves back in August was third but won less than 6% of the vote.

There’s no doubt Micah’s goal deserved to be in the top group. It was a superb goal that gave Brad Friedel no chance of saving it, and then of course it was scored at the Darwen End and was our first goal in league or cup against Blackburn since Derek Scott’s at Easter 1983.

And there is no doubt that it was one fantastic feeling when that ball hit the netting to bring us level – I believe the other three sides of the ground went quiet but to be honest didn’t really notice them as all hell broke loose in our end.

Micah joins Gary Cahill who won our Player of the Season award last week, after fighting off tough competition from John McGreal.
