Micah charged

News broke very quickly after the game on Saturday that Leeds’ midfielder Shaun Derry had been injured in an incident and that Micah Hyde was the Burnley player responsible, although there has been a diplomatic silence from Burnley in the few days since.

There were claims that both the police and the referee saw the incident and certainly the FA have received enough information to charge Micah today with violent conduct. The player has until 2nd November to respond to the charge whilst the FA admits to continuing its enquiries into the incident and liaising with the police.

It’s not been a good week for the Clarets’ midfielder, he was very harshly yellow carded on Tuesday at Leicester and now begins an automatic one match ban next Tuesday which rules him out of the Carling Cup tie at Aston Villa.

Meanwhile, there is still no news on Graham Branch who was charged following the home draw against Derby for gestures aimed at the visiting fans. Branchy had until Thursday of last week to respond to the charge but there has been no comment from the FA since.
