Merry Christmas from Clarets Mad

Last updated : 24 December 2012 By Tony Scholes

For some it will be a difficult time, particularly those who have lost loved ones recently, and I'm certain you will all join me in having them in your thoughts.

For others there is good news and that's very much the case for the Parkinson family this year. Former Claret Gary suffered a stroke in October 2010 that has left him with locked in syndrome. The family home has now been adapted to enable him to be home with his family.

We can all get caught up in football and the need to get points, and it often leads to arguments and such on the message board. But we can have a break for a day as we offer peace and goodwill. We're all Clarets and all want the best for our club and I'm sure we'll hope for a big win on Boxing Day when the sparring can start again.

Until then, my best wishes to all of you. Have an enjoyable Christmas after which Clarets Mad will have all the news ahead of the game while also bringing you news of the Boxing Day clashes in 1972 and 1991 as part of our 'Team of the Seventies' and 'Burnley are Back' series.
