Mears goal wins monthly award

Tyrone Mears
Mears equalised with eight minutes to go with a well taken free kick that went into the net to the keeper's right. It proved to be the most popular goal with the voters and won a 54.4% share of the vote.

That Derby win actually claimed not far short of 80% of the total vote with Jack Cork's last minute headed winner taking second place with 24.4%.

It all left the other five goals fighting for the rest of the vote and Ross Wallace's second Burnley goal, our second in the 3-2 home win against Watford claimed 15.1% to take third place.

My personal favourite, for me the best team goal of the month, was Martin Paterson's first at Norwich and yet it was way down the rankings with a mere 3.7%.

And so Mears joins the other monthly winners - Chris Eagles, whose goal in the Carling Cup took the August vote, Chris Iwelumo, and that second goal of his hat trick against Preston which was the September winner, and Eagles again with his first goal against Barnsley in October.

All four will be in the Goal of the Season Vote in May.

The result for November was

54.4% - Tyrone Mears v Derby
24.4% - Jack Cork v Derby
15.1% - Ross Wallace v Watford
3.7% - Martin Paterson 1st v Norwich
1.2% - Chris Iwelumo v Watford
1.0% - Martin Paterson 2nd v Norwich
0.2% - Jack Cork v Doncaster
