McVeigh released

McVeigh has been with the Clarets since the loan transfer deadline day in March and has featured in all but the game against Norwich. He made his debut in the disappointing 0-0 draw but has been in good form since and scored in successive home wins against Plymouth and Cardiff.

He'll be leaving Carrow Road along with Andrew Fisk, Ian Henderson, Matthieu Louis-Jean and Peter Thorne who has very much been one in our side on more than one occasion. That will obviously prompt speculation of him staying at Burnley although Charlton have been rumoured to have shown an interest in him.

The Northern Ireland international started his career in London with Spurs before signing for Norwich in March 2000 and he was very much a favourite with the East Anglian crowd as they went from strugglers to champions in the three years from 2001 to 2004, scoring some important goals.

Peter Grant, his current manager at Norwich, said today: "I just felt the way the team is structured that there are a few players in similar positions. I felt I would be holding Paul's career back and I hope he can go on elsewhere and do exceptionally well. He has been 100 percent professional since I came here and I think he has proved that again in his time with Burnley."
